State of VA and Wildlife Refuge fines couple for being human.

Vocal Nudists battle to bare it on the beach

As reported in the linked article above and other places, a couple on vacation in Virginia was fined $500 for being uncovered humans on federal land. This is a tragedy. It is certainly a stretch of any indecency law to think that someone could be considered to be in “public” and “offensive” when the closest beach-goer was 2 miles away. These people were obviously targeted by up-tight law enforcement, because they know that the same beach used to be legally marked as a nude beach and they knew that people walking so far away must want privacy for some reason.

The government can’t have it both ways. If they want to control our mode of dress, then they need to issue uniforms to us all and shut down the clothing industry. Nudity is simply another mode of dress. It is a basic human right to choose what to put on our bodies. These lawmakers should be ridiculed for even trying to make such a law.

So, until those idiots get some form of therapy to cure them of their nudism phobia, it looks like the state of Virginia will be a shameful place where it is illegal to be human anywhere but in your own home. Ya know, this is exactly the kind of tyrannical behavior that caused our forefathers to rebel and create their own country. Thomas Jefferson must be rolling over in his grave.

Supreme Court Strikes Down D.C. Gun Ban

Posted in Politics at 2:52 pm by Sean

FOXNews.com – Supreme Court Strikes Down D.C. Gun Ban, Upholds Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms

I have some thoughts on gun rights and gun control that I felt were worth blogging about. Let me first say that I applaud the Supreme Court for confirming that the right to bear arms is a constitutional right. It seems fairly rare that I see our government making decisions that are good for the general populace, so I’m happy to see it.

In my opinion, one of the major reasons behind this is protection from one’s own government. While it doesn’t seem very likely that someone could hold their own against law enforcement these days, the framers of the constitution had just gone through a revolution and recognized that sometimes the government needs to be changed by the people.

Secondly, every time I hear more B.S. about gun control, the media completely misses the point. Gun crimes are almost always committed with stolen or unregistered guns. Gun control laws do NOTHING to change the availability of guns to these criminals. What they do, however, is make it so that the intruder in your home has an advantage over you. What we need is tougher enforcement of gun registration and tougher punishment for violent crimes.

Anyway, that’s my two cents for today. I like to envision a future where the human race can evolve to a point where we can stop killing each other altogether. Each of us only gets one life, and each is unique to the universe. When we can all realize that and respect each other’s right to live and prosper, we will have a chance at survival.

ANHosting / MidPhase Bad

Posted in Reviews at 2:26 am by Sean

I have been forced to move all of my domains, web sites and emails away from ANHosting.  Their service has had so much downtime lately that I was left with no choice.

At this point, I’d just like to put out a warning to anyone who is shopping for hosting.  These guys at ANHosting (also known as MidPhase) seem to have no idea what they’re doing.  They had some hardware failure on my server and it took them 48 hours to restore my account onto a new piece of hardware.  It then took them another 48 hours to get my email functional again.  Altogether, the ANS01 server was down or malfunctioning about 7 days out of the past 30.

The ticket system they use is worthless.  All I ever got as a response to submitting a ticket was either a denial that a problem existed in the form of a retarded question or something like “We know about the problem and are working to correct it asap.”

I’m working on getting the final pieces of my data moved over to the new host.  Thankfully, WordPress wasn’t too hard to migrate.  As I type this, the MySQL server at ANHosting is down so I can’t retrieve one of my other databases.  I guess I’ll have to wait.

I can only hope that this provider is better.  It seems as if every single one of them has bad reviews somewhere out on the net.  I would happily pay a little more if I thought it meant a higher quality service, but I can’t find anybody who can measure that accurately for me.

Since I’m not sure if I can trust any of them, maybe I’ll just have to keep two accounts on different hosts just so I can switch at the drop of a hat if needed.  To be honest, the web site is not nearly as important to me as the email.  Anyone know a good reliable email-only provider?
